  Riverscape Appearance Cancelled
8/14/2008 - Riverscape appearance is cancelled, but we will ALL be back at the Greene on August 23.
  Vocal Stevens
8/7/08 -

For the next few shows we will be having a special guest singer named Jim Bodish or "Bo" from 33 People and Uncle Rico.

Recently at the Great American Ballpark Reds gig, singer Jeff Stevens suffered a vocal strain on his left vocal chord and has been told by doctors to sit out for "the next few weeks." Usually most injuries occur on the baseball field but this one was just outside of the ballpark on the stage:-) The good news is, it's not serious and can be nursed back to where it should be with some singing rest and vocal excercises which Jeff has already begun.

It doesn't affect his speaking voice so he can continue his radio show but his singing voice was affected so therefore he's taking a break and will take each of the next few shows on a week by week basis. Please watch the Stranger website for future updates.

      Leaving Las Vegas...Starring Matt
3/30/05 - Hello again... Its Matt.

Some of you know this and some of you might not... This letter is written to those of you that do "NOT" know...

Dear those of you who dont know yet,

Aha! Suprise Suprise Suprise!!! Im BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For REAL!!! I am back from Las Vegas and currently an Ohio resident again!!!

Before I explain my excitement I want to explain to you what / how / why this all happened.... Long story short is that moving to Las Vegas was a fabulous move and one that Jen and I will never forget. I was lucky enough to be offered a job with the ABC affiliate in the #1 growth market in the country during the biggest election year in broadcast history... (thats huge for those of you who arent familiar with television advertising)... Quite frankly, I never thought I would be back this quick but funny how things happen (and I dont want to bore you with details)... but right after the holidays I was offered a great job in COLUMBUS... C-Bus... home of the Bucks... working for the UPN/WB affiliate! On top of that a great friend of mine would be my boss!!! Knowing 2 things... #1 - Columbus is a very very tuff market to break into for my type of job... #2 - When it alls boils down we wanted to be back with our friends and close to our familiy... long story short... as tough as it was to leave the weather, color and energy of the Las Vegas it was an ez decision... (and yes when you live there you do get over the whole VEGAS STRIP thing)...

For "political" reasons I had to keep this a secret until literally the last minute... I apologize for not letting people know ahead of time but I had to do it this way....

Im so fired up to play with the band again I cant see straight... April 15th is going to be the official launch date of the next chapter in Stranger history and I just cant wait... I even have a new guitar rig so thats pretty fly... yeow!!!!

    Ciao... Matteo

      National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
1/4/05 - Family's holiday full of moving experiences

Explosion, sewage backup, fire alarm keep them on the go

If he had it to do all over again, Jeff Stevens might ask Santa to bring him a rabbit's foot or maybe a four-leaf clover for Christmas.

As it turned out, the 38-year-old program director an on-air personality for WMMX-FM (107.7) and operations manager for WMMX, WLQT-FM (99.9) and WDSJ-FM (106.5) and his family had some incredibly lousy luck over the holidays.
    Jeff in action

The perilous yuletide experience began Dec. 20, when Jeff arrived at his home in Tipp City after announcing the University of Dayton basketball game at UD Arena.

"As I pulled my car into the garage, I heard the boiler in the basement make a loud screeching sound, then the house was rocked by a huge explosion that literally made it jump," Stevens said. "My wife, Vicki, and our two daughters were asleep inside when it happened, but we all got out of the house. Authorities later evacuated the whole street because of a natural gas leak."

Insurance company officials put the Stevens up at a hotel. Two days later, they found a rental property near their house and prepared to move in, but as 10 movers began toting their possessions into the new digs, a record winter storm accompanied by bitter cold weather and brisk winds was dumping copious amounts of snow on the Miami Valley.

Things actually went pretty well on Thursday, but on Friday — Christmas Eve — the Stevens' 5-year-old daughter fell in the basement. They rushed the child to the emergency room at Children's Medical Center in Dayton and learned she had a broken wrist.

That set the stage for Christmas Day, when the family discovered a sewage backup in the basement of their rental home and fled the dwelling to return to the same hotel they stayed at the night of the explosion.

But there was one more disappointment to come.

As the weary foursome settled down in their beds for a long winter's nap, a fire alarm sounded and the hotel was quickly evacuated.

That's when the road-weary Stevens returned to the rental house and for the first time in several days received some good news: Somebody had repaired the sewage problem.

"Looking back, I realize it was the Griswold's and Christmas Vacation all over again," Stevens said. "But we feel blessed to be alive and — except for that explosion — everything else will be laughable for many years to come."

Stranger - Open Letter from Matt
    12/1/03 -

    Matty in Action
     Greetings…

It was the great Paul Stanley who once said “No one member of KISS is bigger than the sum of it’s parts”… or something like that. I don’t really remember the exact words but its pretty close. Close enough for jazz I guess. Anyway, what he was talking about was even though the original line-up of the band had gone through changes the “aura” of KISS remained and will always remain bigger than any one of its members. That being said I think its safe to say that no one member of Stranger will ever be bigger than Jeff…. eh, bigger than the “aura” of STRANGER. Confused yet? Lemme explain where I’m coming from. As much as I kid around I’ve always had deep side of me that not everybody gets to see. The deep side of me always asks the questions “who are you?” or “what defines you?”. I think these are great questions to ask yourself. It really helps you keep yourself in-check with who you are and what you want to be. If you would ask me those questions now I would answer it with words like “Television Advertising exec… Husband… God Fearing… Musician… member of Stranger, etc” … I know the one about Stranger might make you chuckle a bit but my point is this… I identify myself with this band. I’ve been in Stranger for 9 years and Jeff, Bruce, Rob and Brian are my family… We have truly seen (and helped) each other go thru all kinds of peaks and valleys. More confused yet??? I tend to ramble a bit. Here is the real reason for this open letter… I have been fortunate enough to be presented with an unbelievable career opportunity in Las Vegas, Nevada. One that I’ve chosen to accept… I’ll be working for the ABC station there. I’m really super crazy excited about it… It’s such a rare opportunity and its such a great move career wise that it was impossible to turn down. Las Vegas is one of the healthiest TV markets in the entire country BTW. The funny thing is that when I started telling people about it one of the first questions that they ask me is “WHAT ABOUT STRANGER???”. I’m sure you’ve already asked yourself this already! Here’s the answer. The band is going to stay together…. AND I’M GONNA BE THE GUITAR PLAYER!!!! YAHHOOOOO!!!! Why not!!!! I need this band to stay together!!! What a great excuse and motivator to come home! I’ll get to see my family and all of my friends (plus pay for the plane ticket…airfares are cheap there)…People tend to get a bit lazy about staying in touch with friends and family. This way it will put a definite date on the calendar and it will give us all something to look forward to. We sat down as a band recently and we all decided in a matter of seconds that this was our only real option… In fact the first gig is already scheduled!!! I love it! I wanted to put this on the website so people would understand what was going on…and I don’t want to make it anymore complicated that that… In fact my goal is to re-write the middle section of this letter next year and have it say something like this… “I’ve been in Stranger for 10 years and Jeff, Bruce, Rob and Brian are my family… We have truly seen (and helped) each other go thru all kinds of peaks, valleys… and DESERTS!!!!!
